Before Jimmie Johnson, there was Cale Yarborough. The epitome of a racer's racer, Yarborough captured three consecutive NASCAR Premier Series titles. Between 1976 and 1978, Yarborough dominated the sport's elite level. He won 28 races - nine in 1976, nine in '77 and 10 in '78. His final championship points margin in those three years was never fewer than 195 points and was as much as 474 in 1978. Beyond his championship runs, Yarborough may be best remembered for the fight that put NASCAR on the national map - when he and the Allison brothers engaged in televised fisticuffs following a 1979 wreck at Daytona International Speedway.
